I was recently very fortunate to stumble upon some not yet published reading. This reading has been all about the effect being positive can have on our life.
So I was told not so long ago by a very wise woman who many of the people I love the most in this world call Grandma Linda. Grandma Linda said,"Its amazing what a year will do."
A year ago I was asked to go through what was my first and only heartbreak. One sentence will sum it up.
It was what I thought was the worst thing I ever went through, but what I now know beyond a doubt was the best thing to ever happen to me.
What carried me through other than the obvious things like family and friend support was my desire to just get better, to do better and to be better in each and every possible way. Now I know I'm not anywhere close to perfect, but being positive rather than negative about it all is what made the difference. There isn't to say I didn't have those days where I cried and wondered if visine would hire me because I could create a bucket of tears on request. Oh yeah there was a time I actually considered contacting them it was during what thank goodness was my brief period of job hunting. It was that self realization that I would either let it make me or break me on that day in January on a dark cold night that I dropped to my knees and offered a prayer and spoke the words in the Bible in Matthew 11 and I dropped my burden at Gods feet. That very next day I received employment and found a place to relocate to. I never thought I would find a place I loved more than Santa Barbara, but I did. My bff Clarisa lived very close too so that made it even better.
I lost approximately 30 pounds in 5 weeks. That's way too rapid without trying if you ask me, but I welcomed it. So I began a goal and found a running program. I started running somewhere around the first week of January got sick around the third week and quit and took a week or two off then determined not to let myself be defeated I decided not to start over but picked up where I left off. Here are my results...

A 5K completed and somehow I decided a number of months later and some training that I would run a half marathon. Yes I paid the entry fee just two weeks before the race date for the half marathon. This day was empowering for me it was my one year mark of being single and I finished the half marathon. I didn't accomplish my goal of completing it in under 2 hours 30 minutes, but I completed it and thats what mattered to me. Here are my results...
